This fundraising is to support the work of June & Michael, a two-person team, who have been rescuing animals in Cyprus since 2002.

I met them when I stayed at a beach front hotel for a few days (work related) and a frail ginger kitten came up to me and cried in a such a pitiful way that it cut to my very core. With infected eyes, bones protruding, soiled back legs and emitting a deep sense of depression, I was not going to leave Cyprus before I knew this kitten was safe.

In just a few days I was introduced to the massive problem that animal rescuers face day-to-day. There is no organised animal welfare, cats are seen almost as vermin and dogs the same. There is cruelty, abuse, suffering and neglect every day for these animals.

Despite feeling immense overwhelm and compassion fatigue, June and Michael of Cyprus Pride House (http://cypruspridehouse.org), came out and promised to make sure they took the kitten to the vets all the way through to adoption.

This is just one animal of thousands.

These people are on the front line doing the work that we would want to be doing if we lived there. Lets not leave them in overwhelm and despair, let us show that we do care not only about the animals but we also appreciate them giving everything to save the animals lives - financially, physically, mentally and emotionally.
