Story

Working within the fitness industry I have noticed the strong correlation between fitness improving someones mental state.

I have worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from 17 up to 70 and have noticed a how many people suffer with their mental health. There is a strong stigma around mental health about not talking about it, and its something I'd like to highlight and change.

My chosen charity is In Charley's memory.

ICM is a local charity to me in Burnham-on-Sea which works to support young people aged 11- 25 in a variety of ways. Our main support is through one to one counselling.

The charity requires £45,000 a year to run and keep the services going. They receive no regular grants or funding and rely solely on donations.

In Charley’s Memory aims to do the following within Somerset and surrounding areas:

To make support services to young adults with Mental Health conditions more accessible and reliable.

To work with other organisations to help raise the profile of Mental Health.

To advance the education and knowledge surrounding Mental Health within learning environments and wider communities.

To support and guide the network of people around someone with Mental Health conditions.

To reach out to young people looking to learn

about mental health and recruit them as Ambassadors

Run exciting projects and programmes designed to improve the wellbeing of the young people of the West Country.
