Story

Three Peaks. Hundreds of Miles. One Very Important Reason.

In October 2024, our world changed in a single sentence.

“Your daughter has Type 1 Diabetes.”

One day Flossie was a carefree little girl. The next, her life became injections, blood glucose checks, carb counting, midnight alarms and constant calculations. Childhood doesn’t pause for Type 1, but it does look different.

Type 1 Diabetes is relentless. It is 24 hours a day. There are no days off. No switching off. It doesn’t just affect one child, it reshapes an entire family.

As her dad, her uncle, her auntie and her mum, we see the strength it takes from Floss every single day. The bravery in the injections. The patience in the carb counting. The resilience when numbers don’t behave.

And we also see the power of support.

Diabetes Guernsey provides vital local support for families here on the island, organising children’s events so kids living with Type 1 can meet others just like them, offering education and reassurance, and building a community that reminds you that you are not alone.

Diabetes UK supports families affected by diabetes with advice and emotional help, while funding research to understand the condition and improve treatments and find a cure.

We would love nothing more than a future where Floss doesn’t have to think about blood sugars at all.

The Challenge

Scott (Dad), Blane and Corrie are taking on the full works.

They will complete:

• Snowdon

• Scafell Pike

• Ben Nevis

Blane and Scott will cycle between each mountain, climbing, riding, then climbing again, covering hundreds of miles before finishing all the way up at John o’ Groats 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Corrie will complete all three peaks alongside the challenge.

Kelly (Mum) and Auntie Chloe will meet them in Scotland to climb Ben Nevis. Kelly will be there at the finish with Flossie and Freddie, holding the fort at home for the rest of the journey, because Type 1 doesn’t pause just because a challenge begins.

Community Support

We are incredibly grateful to Wheels & Co for sponsoring this challenge and helping kit the boys out for the road ahead.

From equipment to expertise, their support means Scott and Blane can take on the cycling miles properly prepared. It’s a reminder that this isn’t just our family’s fight, it’s a community standing behind us.

When local businesses step forward like this, it makes the journey feel lighter.

The miles belong to them.

The strength belongs to Floss.

The reason belongs to all of us.

Why It Matters

Every donation will:

• Support local families in Guernsey living with Type 1

• Fund research into better treatments

• Provide children’s events and community support

• Move us closer to a cure

Type 1 doesn’t stop.

Neither will we.

If you can donate, share, or simply cheer them on, it truly means the world.

For Floss.

For families like ours.

For a future that feels lighter.

Thank you for standing with us.

Scott, Blane, Corrie, Kelly & Chloe ❤️
