Story

Streetwise and Pearls offer practical and emotional support to women who are street sex working in Liverpool. Many women we support are dealing with crisis situations and can often be vulnerable due to trauma, exploitation, homelessness and other challenges they experience.

A vital part of our project is our Streetwise mobile harm reduction unit- an outreach van staffed mainly by a team of amazing volunteers who take the van into specific areas of Liverpool every weekend to provide a compassionate and non-judgemental space for women who need shelter, safety, something to eat and drink, a listening ear, chats and support from our teams or to be connected with support from our day time team at Pearls or other specialist services we partner with.

Our van which which has served us well for many years is now on it's last legs, leaking and we've been advised is unlikely to keep scraping by MOTs. We are in urgent need of a new van to be able to continue, grow and develop what we do and the support we can offer to women in the city.

We are starting to fundraise for a new van, which we hope as well as being warmer, dryer and easier to drive will also be converted to better suit the needs of the amazing women we are meeting and supporting every week.

Zac McMaster has decided to run a marathon to kick off our fundraising for a new van! He's been training for the last few months and is going to be running the Chester Marathon on October 6th in just 2 weeks time!

We're so grateful for all who support us on this new venture! Please feel free to share widely and contact us for more details!
