I've raised £5000 to support Liberty Lodge and The Stephen Jaffray Memorial Fund

In February 2025, a group of former Royal Marine veterans of the 1982 Falklands War will return to the islands, some for the first time, to complete an arduous expedition. Based on the famous SAS Pebble Island raid and the Royal Marines advance on Stanley, this truly moving journey will be very poignant for all participants. With 8 veterans of the conflict supported by Royal Marines, the Falkland Islands Defence Force as well as residents, this truly is a group effort. Without the kind and generous support of the islanders who will provide the transport, the safety vessels, the accommodation and feeding, there is no way this expedition could take place.
Therefore as a thank you, the team wish to raise funds for two initiatives dear to the hearts of the islanders and we hope you can support us in that aim.
Liberty Lodge Originated from the vision of Derek (Smokey) Cole, a veteran of the Falklands conflict. The Falkland islands government provided a plot of land on Rowlands Rise to the Falklands veterans foundation, enabling the creation of a residence for veterans, their families, and the next of kin of those who lost their lives during the conflict. FVF Liberty Lodge FI relies entirely on donations to keep the lodge operational.
The Stephen Jaffray Memorial Fund is a charity started in the Falkland Islands, set up in 1993 in memory of a young Falkland Islander Stephen Jaffray who sadly died in 1992 aged 21. Stephen had to be airlifted to Montevideo, which cost lots of money to send and keep family with Stephen. Stephen and his family were overwhelmed by the generosity of people and businesses at their time of need. Stephen's wishes was to raise money to help assist other families who are in desperate need to be with their very sick, close relatives who do not have the finances to assist themselves.
