Me on my hand made bespoke hand peddled 8 wheel super fundraising trike.

In the year 2000 i started thinking about future mobility problems because i had serious spine issues which were caused by Ostioarthritis that left me with a fused spine and perminent damage and i was worried that Ostio A, would probeley hit my knees in the future, i knew that i couldent use a normal wheelchaire because pushing on the wheels caused a lot of pain and also i needed a high back to the chaire with a neck rest, so i started looking on the internet and magazines for a hand pedaled foot steered,high seat, light weight small so it could fit in a taxi or bus (not easy to find) trike chair.

In 2004 i had 3 surgurys over a three year period for 3 different cancers,testicular, prostrate and bowel and at the same time on my bladder because it was damaged by the bowel cancer and Macmillan cancer support helped me through this period brillenty.

Late in 2010 i had a heart attack and had tests and treatment in the Whittington, UCH and the London Heart Hospitals, in early 2011 i was in a ward for 10 days and while i was there i used my time to draw up plans for a hand pedaled trike chaire, when i came out i set about collecting materials from rubbish skips to build a trike, it took me 6 months to build it, after it was finished i used it to ride to local parks just for the exercise and also go to high street shopping centres and i noticed it was very popular with the public.

In 2011 i found out my grandnephew who was only 14 had blood cancer and after visiting him many times in the UCL Hospital and seeing what great care he was receiving a cure could not be found and he sadely passed away some months later.

Two years ago my daughter was diagnosed with brest cancer and had one removed she is still having ongoing checks and tests for cancer that is why i have decided to use my trike chair to help me fundraise for the UCH Cancer fund as well as Pedalpower. I plan to take my trike chair to high street shopping centres and shopping - tourest areas like Camden Lock, then place fundraising banners on the sides and above it and start fundraising on line with justgiving.com starting this September 2017.

Chronic Heart disease and Ostioarthritis means i am now only a fundraiser for Pedalpower the fun bike therapy club as i like to call it .

Pedalpower has a weird array of cycles from all over the world. Hand and foot peddled from 2 to 8 wheels and are still finding more bikes.

While visiting Pedalpower at a session one day in my new role as a fundraiser and assioate member I noticed the 2 new members that joined. Some weeks ago and said they did not like it and wanted to go home were having great fun on the track mixing ,talking and laughing with other youths.

I also talked to some of the parents and they told me that a lot of new members on joining were very shy and didn't join in ,but after a few sessions there view changed and they wanted more classes and some parents said Pedalpower classes were like a catalyst they spurred members on to achieve other skills like wheelchair handball ,playing a musical instrument ECT.
