I'm raising £1000 to improve Peebles FC club facilities

Story

Cademuir x28 = Denali

Coinciding with the Peebles FC annual festival to be held on Friday 12 June and the start of Scotland’s World Cup campaign that weekend, 2018 team coaches Matthew Sullivan and Richard Edge will be running/walking (or crawling!) up our local hill, Cademuir, a total of 28 times over the course of a single day. This will be equivalent to the height of the United States highest mountain, Denali, the summit of which stands at 6,190m above sea level, and we will cover a distance of just under 100km. We will be joined on ascents by members of our playing squads, their coaches and club volunteers.

Why?

Peebles FC is a community club established in 2006 with squads from age 4 up to age 17, or older. As a club, our principal philosophy is the provision of a safe and supportive community-based environment, which encourages skill development, fitness, fair play and teamwork. Our squads are all led and supported by volunteers recruited from our parents.

We want to take the opportunity to contribute to the building of a legacy resulting from Scotland’s qualification for the World Cup. We are currently fundraising to improve the club’s facilities. We have a small clubhouse which is in need of renovation or replacement, and three shipping containers – two for changing rooms which are not currently usable and one for storage. This challenge will be undertaken to boost fundraising for the club so that we can drive improvements to facilities.

When?

Saturday 13 June 2026

Where?

Cademuir Hill, Peebles, Scottish Borders
