Story

The potential for saving a life is dependant on time, the faster medical help can be attained, the better the chance of survival. With our own community public access defibrillator we are giving our loved ones, friends and neighbours a greater chance of survival should they go into cardiac arrest.

Defibrillators are vital in helping save lives in the event of a cardiac arrest. The plan is to purchase a defibrillator that will be fitted inside a secure metal box with key code access. If someone collapses with a heart problem, anyone calling 999 will be told where the machine is located & will be given a keycode so that vital treatment can begin straight away. The defibrillators can be used by anyone without any previous training as they provide verbal instructions on how to operate them & will only deliver a shock if they don’t detect a heartbeat, ensuring they are not used in the wrong situations.

Currently there are no public access defibrillator's registered for Pencoed with the Welsh Ambulance Service. With your help we can purchase one and make a huge difference to the wellbeing of our community.
