In honour of the men of Bull's Troop, RHA who fought and fell at the battle of Waterloo we are in the process of getting a memorial stone erected on the battlefield on the approximate site they fought. The troop reputedly fired the first British shots of the battle at the French advancing on the Hougoumont farmhouse and they fought bravely in this area for the whole of the arduous day. I have personally researched the troop movements in detail on this day, and the work of the individual soldiers so this is particularly important to me. The troop did not get the recognition they deserved following the battle, and the name does not appear on any of the other Waterloo memorials, which is why we would like to do this.
The cost of this is approx €8000 so this is the first step in the fundraising, and anything you can donate will help us to achieve this!
Donors names will be in a presentation booklet once the project is finished, which we hope will be in one year, given all the planning, which gives us some more time to achieve our target.
