Story
After nearly 20 years in the disability employment field, my focus is to change attitudes across society, employers and communities towards blind and other disabled people. I’m using my Baking Blind videos, blogs and more as practical demonstration that I and many others have masses of skills, capabilities and ambitions regardless of having little or no sight.
Food is such a great connector and popular across every media but blind cooks don’t really feature!
Now I have won the international Holman prize in competition with over 200 candidates from 27 countries. This prize will fund travel across six continents to cook with professional and home-cooks, sighted or not, plus a programme of more activities back in the UK.
Additional funding would help me extend the project, cook along with more people, produce more materials for sharing world-wide and make more impact.
There’s more information at www.bakingblind.com : “A taste of the World” video explains my goals and “My Story” gives my background.
