Story
Christmas can be a lonely time for some older people. While many of us have family or friends to celebrate with, there are pensioners in Wandsworth who live alone, have lost partners or loved ones, have family who live far away, or simply don't get many opportunities to socialise.
This Christmas, we'd like to bring around 50 local pensioners together for a Christmas celebration and give them something nice to look forward to.
We're not planning anything extravagant. We simply want to put on a warm, enjoyable event where our guests can have a proper Christmas dinner, enjoy some entertainment, meet and talk to other people and share a bit of Christmas spirit.
We'd like the day to include:
* A traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and Christmas pudding
* Tea, coffee and festive refreshments
* Christmas crackers and simple festive decorations
* Music and entertainment
* A visit from Santa
* A Christmas present for each guest
* A hamper for each person to take home
* Help with transport for those who may struggle to get to the venue
# Why are we raising £9,000?
Putting on an event for 50 guests soon adds up, particularly once we include the hall, food, gifts and hampers. We will also need to provide food and refreshments for the volunteers and helpers giving their time on the day.
The money raised will go towards:
* Hall hire
* Christmas dinner, pudding and refreshments
* Hampers for 50 guests
* Christmas presents for 50 guests
* Crackers and decorations
* Entertainment and Santa
* Other practical costs involved in running the event
Our aim isn't to put on a lavish party. We just want to organise a nice, traditional Christmas get-together where people feel welcome, cared about and included.
Every donation, however small, will help.
*£10 could help towards crackers and decorations.
*£25–£30 could help provide a Christmas present.
*£35 could provide a hamper for someone to take home.
*£50 could make a significant contribution towards a guest's Christmas meal and refreshments.
We know we can't help everyone, but if we can bring together 50 local pensioners for a few hours of good food, conversation, laughter and company, we think it will be worthwhile.
For someone who spends a lot of time alone, simply sitting down for a Christmas meal with other people, having a chat, enjoying some entertainment and receiving a present can mean a great deal.
**Please donate if you can, or share our page to help us reach our goal.**
Together, we can give 50 pensioners in Wandsworth a lovely Christmas celebration and remind them that they are very much a part of their local community. ❤️🎄
