Story

Performers Unite is a group of 16 - 19 year olds from Kidderminster and the surrounding area who perform at Stourport Civic Hall  three times a year.

We have chosen this name for fundraising purposes as we are all young dancers, singers and actors  who perform on stage at the Civic three times a year.

The Civic has hit financial difficulty and we,  Performers Unite are rallying behind the management to try and help  keep this important venue afloat by raising money to help with immediate  running costs. We want to represent the hundreds of  young people who use and value the Civic, and who recognise its worth and its legacy to the community and the wider public. The Civic is very important to us  as performers and we also recognise  it is also a vital part of Stourport town itself. This is why we have started this fund, to help the venue survive at this very difficult time.

The events at the Civic also have a major impact on the local economy.  Performers who compete  at the two big dance festivals held in February and July stay at local hotels or air bnbs, as they travel from as far afield as Plymouth, Swindon, Bristol and the South of London to take part. They and their families go into the town, and invest in the local economy, they use local places for food, spend money in shops , pubs and even at the funfair.

There were over one thousand entries at the most recent festival two weeks ago. Their presence will have been a big boost to the local economy.

It  will also probably be the same in February,  which we are sure local businesses will welcome given that  February is usually a quiet time for any tourism based town.

So this is a  plea to all of you, young and old, that have performed, celebrated or partied at the Civic.

Our beloved retro seventies venue and the hardworking Civic Group are in trouble.- please help us to help them.

Just think of the shows you have seen! The voices you have heard...the memories you have created.

So many who took their first steps on stage at the Civic have now gone on to make successful careers in the performance industry. The Civic also brings people together by  putting on  a variety of activities for all ages and interests.

The Civic is for our community now, for our children and for the future. It is the only venue that has the size and versatility to host large events and to lose it would be a tragedy to the whole Wyre Forest area.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this and if you are able to -please donate to our cause!

EVERY LITTLE HELPS!
