Story

Who Are We?

We are two groups of Sussex Wing Air Cadets, that were selected down from candidates all over Sussex. Aged from 15-18 years old we are dedicated cadets that are looking to make a difference in honour of the centenary of our parent organisation, the RAF.

What are we doing?

In August this year we will be travelling out to Oropesa, Peru to build a toilet block for the Azul Was Orphanage. Between Staff and cadets money has been raised for materials and labour to complete the build. It only struck us recently however, that between us some of us play instruments, it is now a goal of ours to be able to find the funds to purchase guitars and percussion instruments so that the children at the orphanage can learn some songs.

Why are we doing this?

This year was the centenary of the RAF, our parent service. In celebration of this our wing staff members have planned two trips, one to Florida, USA to teach and further the interest of cadets with STEM careers in mind, and the other expedition to help the orphanage in Peru.

How will the money be used?

All the instruments will be bought through amazon and delivered straight to the orphanage, failing this (Amazon haven't given me a clear answer on whether they can deliver to this location precisely) I have been in touch with a music instrument store in Cusco that say they can possibly help. Us cadets that are travelling on the expedition and can play an instrument will hopefully be offering to teach the orphans and possibly learn something in return as well.

We appreciate you taking the time to read our page, we understand it's not feasible for everyone to donate, there are many worthy causes out there, but we would like to say thank you on behalf of all of us if you could share this on facebook or twitter using the buttons to the side.
