Story
Support us and enter a raffle to win a stay in the village. (read on)
We are a small community in rural west Cumbria trying to return services whose loss has put our village under threat. To complete our latest project and to accelerate the impact that our new facility has to offer, we need to find extra funds. Would you consider making a donation to help our cause? Please take a look at our video to understand what our project is trying to achieve
The gym area has no equipment in it yet and our large community space needs presentation equipment to make it really fit for purpose; it is this that we are seeking your help with.
separately we will try to raise other funding for additional parking, promoting ourselves more widely to extend our range of customers, and until our reserves build up we need additional funding to move the reliance from volunteer time to additional staff hours.
Of the £80,000 we need to raise we are trying to find just £20,000 for the gym equipment and projection and lighting for the community room, through philanthropic donations like yours.
Each donation over £10 (and in multiples of £10 thereafter) will qualify you for a ticket in a prize draw; and for every £50 donated you will have a brick, inscribed with your name, displayed on a “donor recognition wall” to mark your generosity.
STAR PRIZE:
A two night stay at the village pub, The Fox and Hounds Inn, Ennerdale Bridge. (this will be on a B&B basis and is clearly subject to availability of rooms).
Then, come to The Gather, to look around and see how your contribution has helped. Then stay for lunch or afternoon tea, as our guests. Even if you don't win the prize, why not come to The Gather and have a look round anyway; Sunday afternoon tea anyone?
Though not part of the prize, you can book an evening meal at the Fox and Hounds. http://www.foxandhoundsinn.org/index.html
Thanks to Copeland Community Fund, BIG Lottery, LDNP and Wild Ennerdale Project.

7 years agoBefore we close, a big thank you to all 27 people who supported our efforts to raise money for The Gather; £980 (almost but not quite to the £1,000 we hoped for) but thank you on and all. The best way you can continue to support The Gather is just by visiting us, enjoying the lovely atmosphere, and enjoying, coffee and cakes, or shopping for those special treats. See you there? Visited family in Ennerdale Bridge and enjoyed your wonderful facility - delicious home made scones and a good pot of leaf tea along with a fascinating talk on Herdwick sheep and sustainable farming.

I'm just a member of an unusually community who have taken control of their situation. When they saw local services go, they began a village coop, bought shares and funded the reopening of the pub. The next target was the Gather; see what a difference it made: watch the video.
