Story

Repair, renovation, furnishing and restocking of a PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTRE. First steps - New service counter, chairs, display shelving, blood pressure monitor, new stock of basic medicines
The town of Yate and the rural village of Genieri in the Gambia have been linked for some 36 years, and I am proud to have been a Trustee of the Yate-Genieri Community Link charity ever since receiving a fantastic welcome from the whole village in 2016.
As a charity we have been able to support the villagers not only during times of hardship but also to help build a thriving and sustainable community,
Alongside initiating the Primary School and the Women’s Vegetable Gardens, we have established a Primary Healthcare Centre where a part-time community nurse can administer basic treatments and simple medicines.
THE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTRE NEEDS MORE HELP. The building needs repairs, repainting, new furniture, new diagnostic equipment and a restocking of basic medicines. Malaria is an ever-present threat and the medicine is expensive – at £5 per treatment it is beyond the means of many. Please help us to improve the health of the village - especially the children.
