Story

Walking in the Cotswolds for Charlee

My granddaughter Charlee was diagnosed with Mobieus Syndrome at three months old. Mobieus Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that affects the 6th and 7th cranial nerves. One in 500,000 children can be born with this condition and at the moment there is no reason as to why.

For Charlee the simple things we take for granted she finds difficult to do. She is unable to smile, eat orally and swallow. She also has hypotonia (floppy muscles) which affect her movement and motor skills, a cleft pallet and one kidney.

She is currently fed via gastric port into her lower bowel. As she gets older and with therapy we all hope that she will begin to eat orally.

To help raise enough money for my daughter Natalie and her partner Steve to take Charlee to a clinic in America next year for specialist therapy treatment, my friend Martin Edwards and I are going to do some walking between four Cotswold villages. We intend to help the main fundraising by walking 30km over two days on the 8 and 9 October. So far Natalie and Steve have raised 16k of the 25k they need for this specialist treatment -which is not available in the UK. So any donations you can give will help so much towards helping this beautiful little girl have access to innovative therapy using the latest state of the art treatments, techniques and therapies. Thank you.
