I grew up in Zambia and have seen the misery at first hand. In fact, I lived in a squatter township for a year!

Zamaid is a charity aimed at completely changing the whole scene in squatter townships across Africa but we are starting in Zambia. We will fundraise by all means necessary so that we will be able to go into townships and temporarily house people in nice accommodation. Then we will completely flatten their horrible houses and start building.

We will create huge large compounds. These will contain luxury housing with everything a family would want - TV with satellite TV, a computer with a printer/scanner and high speed internet connection. There will be all the furniture, linen and fittings they need.

The compound will have a large lake full of fish and it will have a lot of island, some for romantic rendezvous and other large islands for corporate meetings. There will be schools for children of all ages and even for adults. There will be squash courts, tennis courts and even an Ice skating rink. At one end of the compound, we will grow all kinds of fruit trees including strawberries, grapes and all kinds of berries. Banana trees and citrus trees plus apple trees will be grown. Indeed, the whole of the compound will be given to fruiting trees, bushes and vines.

There will be a compound clubhouse with a bar and dance floor plus a stage for bands, plays and recitals. Outside, will be a pool and BBQ areas.

To the compound dweller, it will seem as though they have come to live in heaven on earth!
