What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.

Story

The only way to change the poverty situation in Ghana is to educate the young people so they can learn how to change things themselves. It`s the same principle as "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day - teach the man How to fish and you feed him for life"
We all want the young people in this "developing country" to learn how to develop it themselves, for the good of the nation, rather than have it developed by foreign corporations for the benefit of just the privileged few.

To see the effects of poverty on tv or youtube, or other media is bad enough, but to see it first hand, and to witness the frustration it brings to families who cannot afford to send their children to school; this opens up a different set of feelings and a desire to help.

Our plan is to continue to help fund the 5 families that we know, until they are able to complete their schooling, or until their circumstances change so that they can afford it themselves.
If your generosity is sufficient, we will look to help other families also.

Although we have set our target amount to £5000, this is just to satisfy the requirements for the near future. We are hopeful that generous benefactors will contribute. If this is the case, who knows what the possibilities might be. There are villages with no schools at all. Indeed I have been offered land to build a school if we raise enough money.......a wonderful vision, that is.

But feet on the ground for now......and a plea for you to look at your abundance and to give what you can.
Another great way to help is by sharing my link on your timeline. The bigger the audience, the bigger the hope

If we have any success, I will post updates on this page to let you see what is happening with your money.

He works extra time in construction, whenever possible, to help him in raising his baby daughter. But he has no hope of being a teacher, or making life better for others, unless he receives help to pay the fees. We estimate that he will need £400 per year for 3 years. We would like to help Madox with his fees if we can raise enough. You can help also, by making a donation. I live in hope of your generosity and his graduation

This is Madox, a young man who showed great promise all the way through his school years. Bright academically and a keen athlete, and a good attitude to life. Sadly, at the end of senior high when the next step is university or college, there was no way he could afford the fees. He understands the value of education, and if he can find the funds, he wants to be a teacher and share his talents for the good of others. As it is, Madox works 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week for a wage that only allows him to exist

After establishing a family friendship via the internet, Barbara and I visited Ghana and saw how families must choose between feeding their children or educating them. Initially, we decided to help 5 families. We have limited resources and so ask you to help our cause
