On 18th March 2022 we lost a Father, Grandfather (Poppa), Partner, Uncle, Friend and most of all a truly wonderful man. Our lives will never be the same again.

In honour of his memory his Family are establishing the Peter Barnes Memorial Fund.

Peter Barnes was President of West Essex Football and Cricket Club and had been heavily involved with the Club since 1988.

Peter first started coaching the u11 Cricket team in which his son played in and progressed with the team to u13, u15 and u17. Peter then for many years was the Sunday B's captain and spent many happy times at the club. Later on, Peter held various positions at the club and was the Secretary, Committee Member and Chairman before taking up the position of Club President.

Peter was delighted when the Football and Cricket sections of the Club merged into one club and he was often found at both West Essex FC home and away games.

Both his grandchildren play and train with West Essex FC and he was always there to watch his Grandson's play.

We have established this fund in order to support both the Cricket and Football Youth sections of the Club, in order to provide opportunities for grassroots sports development at the Club for years to come. Whilst this fund has been set up in order to accept donations following Peter's passing, the family would like to establish this as a permanent fund to continue to support the Youth sections of the club for the future.
