Story
Unfortunately we lost Peter Ford to a stroke on the 4th May. He was an amazing Father, Husband and a man of the community.
Over many decades he dedicated his time to help others. He was deeply involved in football and Council life, where his presence was felt by many and his loss even more so.
Peter was an unsung hero who constantly thought of others and refused to moan about his own plights.
From a young age he was plagued by Rheumatoid Arthritis which saw an end to his sporting days and ultimately forced him to take early retirement from the Lincolnshire Police Force.
Over the years Peter had multiple operations and joint replacements but never once complained. A brave man he was.
During Peters final days he was cared for by the nurses on Lincoln County Hospitals Stroke Unit. We cannot even begin to explain how amazing they were at such an awful time for us all. Peter even found a nurse who we called his guardian angel. Who could whisper into Peters ear and calm him instantly.
In a period full of emotion, pain and sadness, these nurses helped tremendously in areas that they and we will never know or be able to quantify.
For these reasons we are donating all monies raised to Arthritis Research and Lincoln County Hospital Stroke Unit in Peters name.
Peters funeral will be held on the 1st of June for close family and friends at Washingborough Crematorium at 13:10pm.
On the same day a memorial service will be held at 3pm at St Oswalds Blankney Church for anyone to attend and pay their respects to such a wonderful gentleman.
The family would like to also extend the invite to others to join us in raising a glass for Pete in the Star & Garter PH Metheringham afterwards.
