Story
Defibrillator in Memory of Peter Moyses
As a lasting memory we are raise money for a public access defibrillator in memory of our father Peter, a former chairman of Southwell City FC. The defibrillator will be situated outside of the football clubhouse in the Memorial Ground.
My father spent many 30 years volunteering for the club in many different roles, many Saturday afternoons would be spent at the club helping out. I have strong links with Scouts and the family has always supported heart charities. We as a family hope that this will benefit the football, tennis and bowls clubs, as well as the scouts and all users of the park and playground"
Our father suffered a major heart attack whilst on holiday in Rhodes some 30 years ago, a defibrillator saved his life and gave us an extra 30 years of his life and as part of his recovery he would walk to the park and this is where he got involved with the football club. Many people visit the park to exercise, play football, tennis, bowls, take part in scouting activities or watch your grandchildren play in the play area.
Following his passing we would like to put something back into the community in his absence and having a defibrillator close to where many people visit may be a life saver.
Having a public access defibrillator available in an emergency can be life saving, especially in rural areas where ambulance response times may be longer. By using a defibrillator on someone within three minutes of them going into cardiac arrest, their chance of survival is increased to around 75 per cent.
We have raised over half of the money needed so far to fund the cost of the defibrillator and its enclosure. Donations at the funeral were collected by D J Hall Funeral Directors, on behalf of the family. The football, bowls and tennis clubs have also contributed towards the fund.
It is hoped that it can be purchased and installed soon. Please make a small pledge towards this worthy cause,
