Story

Help Petra Stay Strong Through Her Cancer Journey

Petra is 39 years old, a proud mum to two wonderful boys aged 12 and 17 and has called Kirkcaldy home for the past 20 years. If you’ve ever passed Beveridge Park or walked along the Prom, you might have seen her out running—her favourite way to recharge and connect with the community she loves. In 2022 Petra ran The Edinburgh Half Marathon for MacMillan cancer support, 2023 and 2024, she completed the Kirkcaldy Half Marathon, a testament to her determination and spirit.

By day, Petra works as a Support Worker, caring for vulnerable adults with compassion and dedication. But now, she’s facing her own battle: a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The road ahead includes intensive treatment, travel to specialist centres, and the physical toll of chemotherapy—fatigue, hair loss, nausea, and weight loss. Despite it all, Petra is staying positive. She’s determined not only to fight this illness but to raise awareness of the real challenges people face when living with cancer.

This fundraiser is here to help Petra focus on healing. With your support, she can manage the financial strain of lost income during treatment and cover essential costs that come with her care. Even a small donation makes a big difference. Let’s help Petra keep moving forward—with strength, dignity, and the love of her community behind her.
