My baby sister Efthimia was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer this time last year, she then learnt that the cancer had spread to the liver, so now her cancer is stage 4.

My sister was devistated when she found out, as she is a single divorced mother of one beautiful daugther who is only 14 years old. My sister was only 44 years old, and we couldnt understand how this is possible that this can happen to her, as she has always been into fitness, and very into a healthy lifestyle.

Efthimia had spent all these years looking after our elderly parents as a carer, and being a role model to her only daughter Annaliza, who has excelled in school with A level grades.

My sister went through an agressive treatment of chemotherapy for 6 months which took so much out of her she became housebound, lost a lot of weight, and she couldnt do the normal everday things that she was used to with her daughter, Efthimia had lost her independance, but she is a fighter and wont let this terribile Cancer beat her. She tries the best she can to lead a normal life for her daughters sake, but as you can imagine its really hard whilst going through chemo and the side effects that come with it, she has developed peripheral nueropathy, muscle wastage, loss of energy, and always feels cold because of her treatment.

Eairlier this year she was seen by a liver specialist who told her that they will be able to operate on the tumour on he liver, but first they have to stop the blood supply on the part of the liver that has the cancer before they are able to start the operation. My sister felt that she was givien second chance in life, they stopped the chemo for 6 weeks after so that they can begin, but something went wrong, the surgeon had touched the tumour whilst this procedure was being carried out and it caused the cancer to start spreading again.

now my sister Efthimia has to go through chemo again before they can operate, she changed her diet to a vegan diet, and the tumour was getting smaller, now she is devistated that she has to undergo chemo every 2 weeks until the doctors can decide to operate. Its such a setback for her and eveyone who loves her, and she will go through the side effects again, but this time she has been told that she will lose her hair too.

Efthimia has been using alterative medication which cost £500 per month and it really seemed to help shrink the tumour, but being a single mother and now on benefits, its really difficult to afford this every month. Also now she has to start looking for a convincing wig so when her hair falls out, my sisters hair was her pride as she was a hairdresser too before she was struck down with this dreadful illness. After much research by myself and Efthimia over the last 12 months, it is possible that alternative treatment is her best chance to fight the cancer. This is expensive and ongoing treatment at home would need to be continued.

We dont know what the future holds for my sister, she is only 45 and would love to live to see her only daughter grow up, like every other good mother would.

please can you find it in your hearts to donate something to this cause so that we can fund my sisters alternative medication, get her a good wig so that it could make her feel better, and take her daughter on a holiday so that Annaliza can forget about the stress that she and her mother are going through. It would mean so much if my sister could take her daughter away from all this just for awhile so they can spend some mother and daughter time together.
