Through our contacts at Beacon Fellowship, Loughborough me and my Dad have been asked to provide a water pumping solution for an orphanage in Uganda.

This orphanage is located just off the banks of Lake Victoria, close to the equator, and is an area of high poverty. Their current water supply was upgraded from a hole in the ground, some distance away to a bore hole pump. Unfortunately the cost of running this bore hole reduces their finances significantly which means the children of all ages resort back to walking to the hole in the ground.

This puts them in a lot of danger and there have been reports of children going missing and being raped.

When told this we couldn't just stand by, so our solution is to pump water with one of the biggest resources available to them... the sun.

A solar powered bore hole pump will reduce the cost and risk significantly, freeing up resources for the children's education and improving their health, safety and lifestyle.

The Beacon Fellowship have invited us to go with them during their visit to the orphanage in May 2017.

One of the ways we are raising funds for this is a walk from our home in Stoke-on-Trent to the Beacon Fellowship building in Loughborough.

This is a distance of just over 50 miles and will take us 2 days starting on Saturday 15th October 2016.

Our aim is to raise enough money to put towards this project, with any additional funds going to help the children of the orphanage.

We hope to raise awareness of this, but if you could donate any small amount, it would make an improvement to these children's lives
