Story

I was diagnosed with a few conditions last year completely out of the blue and unexpected. initally started with “nephrotic Syndrome”. To confirm this I needed a kidney biopsy, the biopsy revealed a condition named “Amyloidosis!”. to confim this I needed a bone marrow biopsy and that revealed “multiple myeloma“ shortly after I was in the MRI scanner and all only a matter of weeks apart! this was quite alot to absorb and resulted in me requiring the need of hospital treatment and care, (still ongoing). To date I have had 28 wks of chemotherapy, ive had radiotherapy, ive harvested cells in preparationfor stem cell transplant, and now I have the prospect of needing dialysis in the not so distant future. Ive been fortunate enough to have had very little interaction with the NHS services over the past 40 odd years but last year fell to their mercy and I was forced to experience the full wrath of what these people (doctors & Nurses) do. My experience in the past year with the staff and hospital has been nothing short of exceptional and I for one am very proud of this service that we all, without doubt take for granted.! I would like to say a BIG THANKYOU to each and every single person that I have met throughout my journey from porters, to nurses, radiographers, catering staff, through to doctors and consultants for taking care of me and many others alike, past, present and future. You are ALL amazing and should be very proud of what ever part you play under the NHS services.
