Story

1 in 3 people in the UK will develop some form of dementia in their lifetime, currently 850,000 in the UK have some form of dementia, this will rise to over a million by 2025 and over 2 million by 2050. There a four cancer researchers for every one dementia researcher. In the UK, dementia is the only condition in the top 10 causes of death without a treatment to prevent, cure or slow its progression.

I am climbing Ben Nevis on 7th July 2018 to raise some much needed money to continue with dementia research. I'm sure we all know someone close to us either family or friend that has been diagnosed with dementia. My mother was diagnosed 2 years ago with vascular dementia, an illness that has no cure, no time limit and no rate of progression. For the past 2 years I have watched her change from a healthy alert person with an astute brain for mathematics that I would be happy with, to a fraction of the lady she was.

Dementia is a serious issue for the NHS and the country and funding to find a cure is of paramount importance. In anticipation of your generous donation I thank you from the bottom of my heart and god bless you.
