Story
Philip L Morgan (aka Spirit) joined the ancestors suddenly and unexpectedly.
Philip was a community worker, teacher, counsellor and friend to all, carrying out his mission in the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Hackney.
Philip had a heart condition, still that didn’t stop him from being the ‘Spirit’ of the community. Whenever, Philip was encouraged to look after himself and take a rest from his mission, his response was ‘I like helping people.’
Philip began working for Tower Hamlets African Caribbean Mental Health Organisation (THACMHO) where he worked for over 15 years, dedicating his time and life to help improve the lives of others. He organised trips, meetings and health workshops to help people improve their quality of life. Through THACMHO, Philip contributed to three publications: Power Writers (2005); African History at the Tower of London (2008); Lifting Barriers (2008).
In the 1990’s Philip began working for Social Action for Health (SAfH), where he carried out many roles. These included: Self-management tutor; Good Moves Facilitator; and Health Guide. These roles enabled him to work with the most vulnerable people in society, helping them to overcome and manage their long-term health conditions and challenges.
Philip continued his mission to help others and worked for east London Mental Health Trust where he trained as a facilitator to deliver a ‘Service User’s’ perspective via (Mellow). He delivered workshops to clinical staff to eliminate stigma and improve ‘client/professional’ relationship.
We are fundraising to give Philip a good send-off befitting of a much loved and admired person. Anything you can give to support us would be greatly appreciated.
