Story
Riding my bike for healthier children!
Hi there! I'm raising money for a new playground for William Davis. On July 29th, I'll be doing the Ride London 46. This is my first ever proper sportive - and I want to use it to raise money for a worthy cause. I'm also aiming to complete the 46-mile course in under 2.5 hours.
Our school is a small inner city primary school which serves a very diverse community in Bethnal Green, East London (including my children). We have a wonderful building, but sadly, very little outside space. Running is even restricted in our playground because there have been too many injuries through collisions.
And yet, for many children at William Davis, this playground is the ONLY outside space they have daily access to. The majority of the children live in flats and have - at best - a small balcony. Some have no outside space at all. When so many urban children are experiencing health problems through a lack of regular exercise, it seems wrong that these kids are missing out on the chance for more physical outdoor play.
For several years the school has been planning a new playground that will include:
- A dynamic new climbing frame - Space for ball games - Quiet seating areas - space for growing plants - and more.
Help me help the children of William Davis. All money raised will go to the newly formed Parent Teacher Association. I will be paying the Just Giving fees myself - so 100% of the money I raise will go to the school

6 years agoFinished! Typically, it was the worst weather we’ve had in weeks - torrential rain soaked me to the skin before I even started. But then I got riding, warmed up a bit and did the ride of my life. I said I would try to finish the ride in under 2hrs 30mins, but really, I was excpecting a time closer to 2hrs45. So my final time was... 2hrs25mins29secs! That puts me among the fastest riders of the day and frankly, exceeded even my wildest expectations. Thank you to everyone who donated - I couldn’t have done it without you!
