My dad passed away on October 26th, after suffering a heart attack weeks earlier and remaining in a coma until his last moments.

His life was spent living and working in Oldham, and he always had the communities at the forefront of his thoughts & activities. He was passionate about the town, and through his love of cycling he encouraged many people to take up not only this sport, but others as well.

Over the last 20 years, he helped to raise money for different charities by organising cycle tours across Bangladesh, as well as many more closer to home. His love and enthusiasm for life brought people of all abilities and different communities together.

I remember talking to him about the opening of the old Town Hall and Odeon cinema complex, and he was looking forward to this hugely. Unfortunately he wasn't able to see the launch, but I know he would have been so proud of Oldham.

The hundreds of messages of sympathy & condolences received on Facebook has been overwhelming, and our family is really grateful for everybody's support.

If the death of my Dad could help put something good back into Oldham, I know he'd be so happy smiling back down upon us.
