£1,580raised of £5,000 target by 42 supporters

Weʼve raised £1,580 to help Oldham charities Mahdlo & Dr Kershaws benefit from the passing of Phil Buckley

    Oldham, United Kingdom
Funded on Sunday, 27th November 2016

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

My dad passed away on October 26th, after suffering a heart attack weeks earlier and remaining in a coma until his last moments.

His life was spent living and working in Oldham, and he always had the communities at the forefront of his thoughts & activities. He was passionate about the town, and through his love of cycling he encouraged many people to take up not only this sport, but others as well.

Over the last 20 years, he helped to raise money for different charities by organising cycle tours across Bangladesh, as well as many more closer to home. His love and enthusiasm for life brought people of all abilities and different communities together.

I remember talking to him about the opening of the old Town Hall and Odeon cinema complex, and he was looking forward to this hugely. Unfortunately he wasn't able to see the launch, but I know he would have been so proud of Oldham.

The hundreds of messages of sympathy & condolences received on Facebook has been overwhelming, and our family is really grateful for everybody's support.

If the death of my Dad could help put something good back into Oldham, I know he'd be so happy smiling back down upon us.

By donating here, you'll be helping two brilliant Oldham charities Mahdlo and Dr Kershaws.

Mahdlo is a great youth organisation that you can read more about here http://mahdloyz.org/, and Dr Kershaws are well known for their wonderful care of people living with life-limiting illnesses.

Wow, didn't expect to reach the target in less than 12 hours, thanks so much to everyone who has donated so far. Dad would have been so proud. I guess we should up the target a little bit then to see how much we can raise.

So sad to hear of Phil's passing. My daughters remember fondly Uncle Phil taking them to see Man U stadium when they visited England some years ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now.
