Story

This year I injured my left hand, I considered it pretty minor at the time (considering the damage I had done to both of them during my 25 year career as a chef) I really didn't think much of it. After a few days it was clearly infected, must likely because of my compromised immune system after having diabetes for 30 years. I took myself to A&E to check my bloods for any signs of diabetic complications and thought I would be sent home with some antibiotics.

My minor injury scenario clearly wasn't taking into consideration the severity of the situation. I was informed after just hours at the hospital that the infection was likely Sepsis and it was making its way up my arm at some pace. I was admitted to surgery that day to see if they could surgically scrub out the infection from my hand. This procedure was done Monday, Wednesday and Friday By which time they had just scrubbed my hand to pieces.i had guessed what was coming next by Wednesday ,i could have saved then some time! .

Saturday came a meeting with the surgical team who basically Informed me that the only thing left to do was amputate the now dead hand or die!! Sunday morning one of my lifelong fears became a reality and my left hand was amputated. Just like that, in one week i went from having an infected injury to having a very important part of my body removed!

Tuesday they went back in to clean up the wound with very positive feedback so they closed it up Thursday. What a week!

I know have to learn how to do everything I've done for 40 years with one hand and a very hard puzzle as to how I am going to return to the kitchen or the DJ scene with a stump or possibly useless prosthetic.

Please help me achieve my goal so an arm as good as or better than what I had before can become a reality. Any and all donations will be gratefully received and you will become a big part of my recovery. After recovery comes the Hero Arm! I can then continue my life working with the two things i really love, food & music.

I thank you all in advance
