Story

You may have read recently about the story of a young man from Maidenhead, George Norman Rodney Drury Fuller, who lived in his family home on Linden Avenue. With the growing threat from fascism across Europe he decided to volunteer with the International Brigades, fighting to defend the democratically elected government against fascist forces backed by Hitler and Mussolini. On September 23rd, 1938, he made the ultimate sacrifice and he was killed during the Battle of Ebro. Forgotten for decades, this memorial plaque will be a small way to remember him and his selfless action in the struggle the fascist threat that would later engulf the world in war.
