Story
EXXPEDITION ROUND THE WORLD 2019-2021 IS AN ALL-FEMALE SAILING VOYAGE AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH MISSION. OVER 38,000 NAUTICAL MILES AND 30 VOYAGE LEGS STARTING AND ENDING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, EXXPEDITION CREWS WILL EXPLORE PLASTICS AND TOXICS IN OUR OCEAN, VIA FOUR OF THE FIVE OCEANIC GYRES AND THE ARCTIC.
CONNECTED BY A PASSION TO PROTECT OUR SHARED OCEAN, IT WILL ENABLE 300 WOMEN TO GO TO SEA AS HANDS-ON CREW AND EXPERIENCE FIRST HAND THE CHALLENGES WE FACE FROM SINGLE-USE PLASTICS, WHILE CONTRIBUTING TO CUTTING-EDGE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND SOLUTIONS-BASED THINKING.
To assemble multidisciplinary all-female crews for sailing expeditions in locations around the world to conduct citizen science, complete local outreach and explore solutions to ocean plastic. Each voyage is designed to encourage collaboration between crew members and community groups, and to open conversations around female leadership, personal and environmental awareness, and cultural and societal shifts.
I'll be taking part in leg 9 of the eXXpedition, starting in Tahiti and sailing through the edge of the South Pacific Gyre before finishing in Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.
I would love any donations you could make towards me achieving my goal of sailing in the South Pacific, whilst simultaneously attempting to make a difference to the worlds plastic problem.
