    Victory Gardens update

The vegetable seeds and tools purchased with your generous donations were delivered to our Polish partners, Folkowisko Foundation's hub on Monday 25th April. The hub was very busy last week delivering humanitarian aid into the heartland of Ukraine so two of our founders, Caragh and James responded to the request for help and departed for Poland with 24 hours notice...direct action!! They arrived on Wednesday to assist with the sorting and distribution of the vegetable seeds and tools that uktoukraine purchased on your behalf. The helped deliver the seeds and tools to the villages in Ukraine on Thursday morning. Read their story on www.uktoukraine.com

The seeds and tools were gratefully received by the villages that they visited and following a further delivery at the end of last week your donated seeds have made it as far as the outskirts of Kiev!

How your funds are being spent: The funds you have so kindly donated and supplies given are going to help the Ukrainian refugees. We have two hubs in Poland (NGO Organisations) on the Polish Border. They work round the clock organising and helping the refugees. So far we have delivered 47 generators, 1600 power banks, 1000 thermoses, 12 tons of food and 4 tons of essential women and children daily needs and bought a medical first aid trailer with all equipment. Please find out about our next very exciting project below!

    11th April 2022

    VICTORY GARDENS

We are now full steam ahead on our new project "VICTORY GARDENS” This is a fantastic initiative to help this proud nation feed itself in the coming months. We are in collaboration with our NGO partner in Poland who in turn, have organised large areas of land from Western Ukrainian councils. We are PLANTING UKRAINE with vegetables to ease the food pressure in the coming months.

Victory Gardens draws its inspiration from Herbert Hoover who recruited thousands of volunteers to plant crops to stave off starvation in WW1. Victory Gardens will give these refugees a role in their new communities and a sense of ownership over essential food supplies.

Our part of this is to supply tools and funds to allow this project to succeed. There are 7 million refugees residing in the west of Ukraine, which has created a massive pressure on food supply, you have seen it all in the news! Please help us by giving to our fund. If you have garden tools that are in good working order, please contact us urgently 07717 322030 we leave just after Easter!

    20th-27th March 2022

What a week! A huge thank you to Ramsbury Brewery, for the loan of the warehouse and "fork lift driver Alistair" along with his many other talents! To Rupert Nuttall for the loan of his enormous horse lorry and trailer, his ability to load every inch of this vehicle together with all our exceptional volunteers was incredible to watch. To all those who have donated, sent out lists and been a support to us and drove round the counties buying food! And especially to Sophie Henderson and Teal's, a must stop on A303 who raised a whopping £25k for us. THANK YOU ALL!

Food: On the lorry going on Monday 28th March is the most massive quantity of food, you will see many more photos in the coming days. So many people have been shopping for us, no supplies left after our fleet of 4 x 4's were loaded to the brim, we travelled for miles! We ordered on line with Booker and Amazon for the supplies we could not get but we discovered that Aldi and Lidl were actually cheaper!

Generators: "Ed White Project" 40 generators are on the lorry (28th March), these are absolutely essential and will be going directly into Ukraine. We were also given 5 other generators - thank you to each and everyone of you who donated. We will definitely be aiming to supply more... Please spread the word and keep donating!

Foil Blankets: Thousand of these essential items to keep warm were purchased. They are small and very effective, there is a huge demand for these items so we are very happy to report we got them and they are also on the lorry 28th March!

Medical supplies: Some medicines are on the lorry (28th March), sadly not nearly enough. We are desperate for more! We are looking for suppliers and making some headway but a lot more sourcing required in this area! Please email caragh@caragh.biz if you have any contacts in this area.

We have already supplied them with 3 vans and 1 horse box, full of supplies including; sleeping bags, towels, clothing, medical supplies, sanitary, nappies, power banks, toothbrushes, washing powder, face masks, etc

"Great News" We have just supplied them with a first aid trailer to help refuges in the border queues on the Ukrainian side. This was a very special project and we are happy that your funds will help these poor refugees. Please scroll down to find out about our on going projects.

    PROJECT GENERATORS

Generator power is needed NOW for hospitals, shelters, first aid posts, field hospitals and all emergency infrastructure services in Ukraine. A friend of UK to Ukraine, Ed White, has managed to secure 35 generators and we need to raise funds NOW to ensure that the brave Ukrainians get their power back ASAP. President Zelensky made this direct request to Prime Minister Johnson so let’s DO IT!

    PROJECT AMBULANCES

"The most needed thing now is an ambulance, even withdrawn from use and without approvals, anything that can be used to transport sick people." Marcin's organisation donated its own to Jaworów in Ukraine, because they had bombing there that night. "An ambulance is very important to transport people in need to Polish hospitals. The bombing with rockets was just 16 miles from my home town, we could even hear the bombs and see flashes of light on the horizon. The influx of people has increased at the border for fear of further attacks" Marcin - Head of Operations at Cieszanow Supply Depot

We are currently sourcing ambulances to send to Marcin in Poland

PROJECT FIRST AID CONTAINERS - COMPLETED!

The container is custom-made and prepared as a small doctor's office on wheels. It is equipped with the necessary equipment for first aid and all equipment is included in the price. Marcin's team of medics is stationed in the container, helping people in the line to the border crossing on the Ukrainian side. They have two tents next to the container, one with beds for resting, but also as a field hospital for people in need. In the second, they prepare warm food and serve people in line. Having a medical container on site is extremely important for them and without it they will not be able to provide medical assistance.

Monday 14th March 2022 - POST TRIP UPDATE

We are now back! Thank you from each and everyone of us to each and everyone of you, your funds went directly to those in need! We witnessed so much, made so many wonderful contacts and found our more about exactly what is needed that we have big plans! We will keep you informed! This is only the beginning. We will update you very soon but PLEASE KEEP DONATING!

Monday 28 February 2022 - THE INITIAL CRY FOR HELP

We have a Polish friend in Dorset, Agie Sikora whose parents and family live in Horyniec Zdroj, a small village which is only 4 miles from the Ukrainian border. A few weeks ago the village was becoming overrun with refugees, they desperately needed supplies to support them and we volunteered to help. Now the village is part of highly organised network of communication between supply hubs and border crossings and is helping to provide essential supplies to wherever they are needed most. The help is needed on both sides of the border - on the Ukrainian side, refugees are queueing for days in freezing temperatures with no provisions or protection from the elements.

    HOW IT CAME TOGETHER

Sunday night - idea hatched in Dorset (thank you James). Monday night - first meeting in Wiltshire and my friend Pip (a mad Kiwi) has kindly agreed to join us on this journey! Tuesday morning - Axford, my local village were sent the email asking for donations, and to our delight, the response was overwhelming. Thank you! Tuesday evening - we decided to transport the donations ourselves. "Village to Village" We think 21 hours pillar (it was 31hours!!)

By Wednesday evening we had spread the news, Ramsbury got involved and our village hall was beginning to fill up. 14 hours since we went live, incredible generosity by all of you. We are now taking 2 VANS to Poland leaving we hope on Monday. This is a mission!

Thursday - completely overwhelmed by your generosity!! We have had the most remarkable people dropping off donations today - from Wokingham to Calne, Kingsclere to Andover. We have masses of supplies, in fact so many that we are not encouraging any more clothing donations at this point and we have had to rope in a third vechicle!

Friday, our volunteers are incredible, we are now like a warehouse, sorting out the donations in boxes, Axford Hall is full, my hall and my garages! We have a lot to sort out by Monday!

Monday we are leaving, 8 drivers, 3 vans packed to the rafters and a horse box. We would like to thank 3 very special donors from Axford who sponsored our vehicles, so generous thank you! Also a huge thank you to Brian Meehan for loaning his horse box and his wife!

Should you wish to make a difference then we encourage you to make a cash donation here. We will be using these funds to shop for priority supplies (generators and medical supplies) to accompany your wonderful donations.

    James, Caragh & Pip xx

The biggest shout out goes to everyone's favourite Axford locals! Ashely de S..was instrumental in getting the first email out to start this campaign. There was such a strong team from Axford, Kevin L (who had no idea what he was letting himself in for) and Margaret R, the most incredible doer. Nick, Ivor, Julian, Hamish, their help in getting us to Poland was invaluable. We collared the super efficient (and strong) Tara, Natascha, Fi, Katy, Andrew & Jessica W, Melissa B and so many others. Loading the vans was a huge effort!
