Story

i an hopingerger with the Lucy Rayner trust we can set uo a plaOn or around the 4th August I am going to make a solo attempt to swim unaided across the English Channel, a distance of a minimum of 21 miles I will be swimming under English Channel rules which specify only swimming trunks, a swim hat and goggles can be worn. I have trained for this for the last two years and despite covid restrictions I managed to complete my swim assesment last week, a 7 hour swim in 15 degree water, followed by another 6 hours the next day. The swim took place in Dover harbour, the place I will begin my attempt.

There is no doubt I would not have got this far without the support of my friends and family. Be it hours and hours going up and down the pool, lap after lap of local lakes or my wife and children waving me off as I head out early morning to drive to the sea. I thank you all.

There is one friend who sadly wont be there on the day, but I know Rosie will be watching me and willing me on. Rosie was a very kind and caring person who loved to help others and i am raising money in her memory.

I am raising money to add to a fund already set up to help young people in our area with mental health and in conjunction with local charities set up a place young people can go and get the help they need. I will update on this as things progress. Every penny raised will go directly to help others.

With only a few weeks to go I would like to raise as much money as possible, so thank you for looking

Wish me luck

Phill
