Story
Pheonix Footbal Club in Southport is a community club for kids, that has teams from U7’s to U16’s with their home ground at Russell Road playing fields. The club was founded by Simon & Michelle Marshall in 2012 as a place where kids of any ability would be welcome to play. At the moment, the only facilities at the site is a steel container for storing club equipment. Back in June 2016 Phoenix Football Club applied for some funding through the Police Crimes Commission to build a community hub at Russell Road. The money comes via the Proceeds of Crime Act and is to be used for community purposes. The application was supported by PC Mike Pointon who is a parent of one of our players and also Inspector Graham Fisher. We got regular updates and when we got a call to say we had made it to the final 8 applicants we dared to get a little excited. On 21st December the club made a presentation at Police Head Quarters and underwent a thorough questioning. In January the club got the news that we had been successful and they would be delighted to grant us some funding. Since then we have filled in countless forms, met with an array of builders, architects and Council members and I am delighted to tell you all that we have £75,000 Yep SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS to build our amazing players and parents the club house they deserve!!
the Grant money will pay for all the professional fees and the cost to build the club house ‘bare shell’ but we desperately need the final £15000 for interior fixtures and fittings to be able to provide proper facilities.
