Story
In September 2017 I embarked on a three month trip around Nepal. I started in Kathmandu and I'm currently working in an orphanage in Phutung called 'Possible Nepal'.
I was talking with Kapil (the guy who runs things) earlier about how much the orphanage costs to run and it really is done on a shoestring. The whole thing, for 10 children, including rent, food, electricity, private school fees, clothes and other expenses is just £8,000 / year or put another way, £67 / child / month. I can easily spend that on dinner...
I wasn't intending to actively fundraise but given the relatively small amounts of money they need, I thought I'd put it out there and see if anyone would like to donate, however small the amount. You can do so on my justgiving page : www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/phutung At the end of my trip, any money raised will go directly to the orphanage.
The current things they urgently need are :
School shoes - £5.30 per pair - £53 total
Socks - 90p per pair - £18 total
School sweaters - £8.30 each - £83 total
Rent - £363 total
Just to give you an idea of how much they spend on an annual basis :
Food - £3,500
Cooking Gas - £260
School fees, books and clothes - £2,500
Health - £600
Rent - £750
Salary - £450
Total - £8,060
