We already make a difference, but we can do so much more!

We have used portable EEG biofeedback devices to assist in understanding how the brain reacts after suffering from an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Over 400,000 people survive an ABI each year in the UK and although we have been working within the Borders region of Scotland, we help many, working with multiple groups all over the UK. We use this equipment to demonstrate how we can learn to control our minds. Mental relaxation is one stage, but with the advances in technology, we can begin to work with new areas. Already our understanding of Neuroplasticity has increased exponentially in recent years. ABI survivors who believed they were affected for the rest of their lives many years ago, are making changes now.

With the extra equipment we are trying to fund, we can select devices that will easily be transported around groups, and used to to help train and re-develope brain activity by utilising specialist techniques in conjunction with current software. These techniques have been built over the last 6 years, taking in many forms of therapies and technical advances.

Why are the costs so high? Unfortunately this equipment is only available in the United States and once you add in shipping and import taxes, it almost doubles the costs. But for just £4000 we can offer ABI survivors, around the UK, opportunities to trial new techniques in recovery, building on confidence and ability, as we already have been doing, and continue to make a difference; not only for the survivors, but the family members and carers that are affected too.
