Story
Every year, thousands of adults and children suffer a cardiac arrest in a public place, often whilst playing sport. Although this is thankfully a rare event, it can and does happen. We have sadly been reminded of this when a local cricketer recently passed away whilst playing cricket on the Pilsley Village Sports Ground Earlier this year.
With over 150 children and adults now using the Pilsley Village Sports Grounds on a weekly basis, and with a lack of publically available defibrillators in the local area, we are looking to fund the installation of a defibrillator on the outside of the new sports pavilion.
It is thought that the speedy use of a defibrillator in the event of a cardiac arrest can increase a patienmts chance of survivial from 6% to 74%. Whilst it is hoped that this will never need to be used, by having the unit available for the users of the users sports ground, and also the many members of the public who use the area, we will give anyone unlucky enough to suffer a cardiac arrest in the future the best chance of survial.
Any contributions from individuals or local businesses would be hugely appreciated.
