Pink Taxi is a women-only taxi service led by female drivers operating globally. It was launched in Pakistan on International Women’s Day 2017, to facilitate the social and economic empowerment of women from the underprivileged areas. In a nation where 55% of women who use public transport face some sort of sexual harassment; providing a safe, secure, and hassle free commute to the women is a direct key to social stability.

The motto of Pink taxi is to believe that team work is the key to maximizing achievements. Therefore, the women-led taxi service has initiated a programme to give driving lessons to women from low socio-economic backgrounds. However, to seed this cause, the organization requires funds. These funds will support 25 women in Karachi in learning how to drive and attend Pink Taxi Certified Vocational Training Programme. These women, thereafter, will start earning enough amount of money, after adequate training, to not only make ends meet but also improve their standard of living.

Past Programmes:

As of late 2017, Pink Taxi successfully completed two similar training programmes and provided the trained candidates with taxis to drive along with a mobile application so that they could start earning money and become financially independent individuals with social and economic importance in the society. These women were part of the first and second batch. The batches were sponsored by Pink Taxi and Habib University Foundation, respectively.

Pink Taxi is an established women-only taxi that has empowered hundreds of women and made them take charge of their own lives. The core idea of this service is to provide a safe transportation facility to female passengers and provide a respectable platform for their employment where they feel like they, too, can make a difference in the world. These female drivers are referred to as our Pilots.

Allocating funds for such trainings programmes can bring a marked difference to the lives of such women as they have in the past. Lately, Pink Taxi has seen noticeable change in the lives of their pilots. In the recent past Pink Taxi has become prominent for transforming household conditions of females who have families to support, who, through our organization are able to educate their children, provide them a better living and up their morale by making them functional in this society.
