Story

Bahrka IDP camp in Iraqi Kurdistan is home to thousands of people displaced when ISIS arrived in Iraq and by subsequent fighting. Opportunities for children to play and socialise are limited and the small football pitch, which played a central role for many and is featured in The British Journal of Photography.

Sadly, during the recent lockdown when the pitch was closed to access in an attempt to limit the spread of Coronavirus, vandals broke into the pitch and damaged much of its surface, making it unplayable.

Repair costs will be £500 and we hope to raise money to cover that, with any excess going to cover training supplies, such as balls and kits.

Funds raised will go to the coaching staff and help children in the camp get back to a sport that has been brought joy and a sense of community to the camp.
