    Story

The PKD festival started 9 years ago as the Push Kart Derby for the local community, and we have seen great success and growth in that time. We are not only passionate about local, but also the wider communities. To promote greater inclusion and interaction by all communities that wish to be involved, last year we wanted to promote Kinship day and bring more communities together. And this was a great success and we are pleased to have achieved this, now we want to grow the event so we can bring even more communities to our event.

Since the first PKD Festival which enjoyed a crowd of 500, this has grown steadily over the years with over 5000 people attending the festival in 2015 and again in 2016. We are still growing and our vision is one day to expand to the whole of Scotland and if possible UK wide.

By retaining the strong brand name PKD, This would create a Big festival feel but retain a family friendly atmosphere which incorporates, live music, community stalls, bike, scooter and car shows. We have also had local supermarkets come and do their own stalls and the HM Forces have also been in attendance to speak with kids and adults about the life of a soldier. We also have various local sports clubs who can promote themselves to the wider areas, free children's activities (inflatables). And this year we have a local YouTube group coming down to do a gaming expo.

This has created an event which has become Scotland's largest charity festival run entirely by volunteers.
All this helps us with our aim to promote diversity across all communities in one fun family day festival.

The project involves site rental (fife sport & leisure trust), stage and lighting (along with security), generators, hire of equipment (toilets, fencing, changing rooms), marquee's (from gazebo's to first aid tents), insurance (public liability & equipment) and of course the booking of the performing artists.

All surplus funds are put back into our local communities.
