Story
It is estimated that shark numbers have declined by 71% over the last 50 years. This is an extremely worrying figure considering that sharks have inhabited this planet since dinosaurs walked the earth. They have survived global mass extinction events, but the one thing they may not be able to survive, is us.
Sharks face many different challenges to their survival, including being caught as bycatch from commercial fishing, being killed for shark fin soup, being culled due to negative stereotyping, and many more.
We are aiming to challenge perceptions of sharks in the UK by creating a documentary mini-series focusing on UK shark species. We hope that by shining new light on our shark species and by exposing the difficulties they face here in the UK, we can inspire a new wave of shark-conscious people to champion shark conservation.
By educating and informing the general british public of how they can help prevent the decline of sharks in our waters, and improving people's perceptions of sharks, we are one step closer to helping save our planet's shark species.
All donations will be channeled directly into this project.
