Story

A few parents of Holbeach Primary School have come together to create green space inside the playground for the children.

It is scientifically proven that green space and trees are extremely beneficial to the physical as well as mental health of both adults and children, so we are raising funds toward the cost of materials to create a greener environment for our children inside the school grounds, to make the air cleaner for their developing lungs and their play area more enjoyable.

We will be working in partnership with John McCormack from local Landscape Design company JMC Landscapes - www.jmclandscapes.com - to plant trees, climbers and improve the planters inside the playground. The project will be maintained by fellow Mum and Horticulturist Cat Flannery who will be using her mindful gardening skills to teach the children about gardening and growing food, while simultaneously nurturing good mental health through mindfulness activities.

Anything you can donate to help this important cause - especially money, plants and time - will really help to make a difference.

This project is running alongside our Street Trees campaign. We have been working with the charity Street Trees For Living and have received funding for seven trees that will be planted outside of the school this autumn. We have amazing funding support from the Friends of Holbeach and Team Catford, as well as match funding from the GLA and also sponsorship for one tree each from Catford Green, Hunters Estate Agents, the Rushey Green Assembly and Rowlands Opticians. If you are interested in sponsoring a tree - each tree comes with its own specially designed commemorative label - please get in touch.

All our thanks,
The Parents of Holbeach Primary
