My mother left Somalia at a young age to come to Europe to make a better life for me and my siblings. Now in the United Kingdom, my mother has ensured I have a bright future ahead of me.

However, that came at a price as she had left behind her family and relatives in the process. For years, she had been trying to save money to see her family. Already, she had lost her father and sister in the process amongst a few. Her father died first. He was extremely ill and while still saving enough money to see him, he passed away. That day, my mother was mentally and physically broken. Closely following was my auntie, my mother has been trying to see her sister as she was terminally ill due to having a failure in both of her kidneys. My auntie’s dying wish was for my mother to see her but it wasn’t fulfilled as she didn't have the money to do so.

I personally haven’t met my grandmother or my relatives back home, and that affected me as I was the only person that I knew of that hasn’t met their grandparents. I didn’t know of the feeling or the bond you have with your grandparents. But that didn’t sadden me as much as knowing my mother was actively trying to see her father, then her sister, and in the process of being able to finally see them, they passed away.

Time is running out as my grandmother is very old. I don't know what I would do if my mother doesn't see my grandmother before she, passes away too. The money is not just for the plane ticket but to help my other relatives (who are just surviving above the poverty line) have a more stable life (even if it's for a very short period of time).

I have never wanted anything more in my life than to see my mother finally see my grandmother.

I hope that this plea for help doesn’t go unanswered as this is my last resort to help end this long and fruitless suffering.
