    Story

The smallest things, bring in the biggest wins!

UPDATE: 2 Oct 2017 - Thank you so much to all who have helped and donated either time or money to the Foundation. The run that took place three weeks ago was wonderful and raised money for this important issue. Namely people who just cant make ends meet at all and end up on the streets without any shelter or security, especially the young and vulnerable. This is such a problem in the UK but often not seen. Caroline was passionate about doing something practical about it and with your help we can really make a difference.

UPDATE: 16 Sept 2017 - Jacob and I are delighted and so grateful to those who are taking part in the Half Marathon event for Carries Home Foundation @ Run Reigate tomorrow 17 Sept 2017. Please do support us and help those who need a roof over their head. Love David & Jacob x

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Inspired by Carrie Kalman, Carries Home Foundation (CHF) is about helping people, especially the young and vulnerable find a roof over their head. It's an issue which is often hidden but very real, which Carrie believed we often just readily accept. Carrie was a wonderful and kind hearted person with an amazing practical and solutions based outlook. Her main goal was to help those who can't help themselves. Carrie spent her life giving and selflessly doing kind things for others. She was passionate about building a sense of community. Looking out for one another and sharing resources to create a happier and more peaceful society. Her belief was that 'the smallest things, can bring in the biggest wins'. From one kind gesture to another, that will make a difference to someone’s day, someone’s week, someone’s whole life.

    CARRIE'S STORY

In April 2017, Carrie was diagnosed with cancer, an inoperable brain tumour. After just a few months of treatment, Carrie, died on 1 August 2017 after spending three days in a coma. She left behind her young son Jacob, who is now very much involved along with her husband in continuing her legacy.

During a hospital stay, Carrie met someone. Through a chance conversation, Carrie discovered that she was living in a very difficult cycle impacting on her well being. She was desperately trying to pull together enough money to move into a rented bedroom. At the end of each month, there was not enough money left to save for her deposit. It was just a couple of hundred pounds. With empathy and compassion, Carrie gave her the money she needed as a gift. It changed her and what she could do profoundly.

    Breaking the cycle

She was overjoyed to find a place to call home and moved in the following month. This simple gesture made a huge difference to her life. It provided her with the assistance she needed to be released from this vicious housing cycle, which penalises those on lower incomes. It lifted the weight off her mind and helped her on her journey through life. With the reduction of funding, the increasing cost of private rent and the lack of affordable housing in the UK, further help is needed to help people on lower incomes and those who just cant break the cycle and end up on the streets, to move into a home. Carrie’s Home Foundation was established to do this.

    Make a difference

Please support someone who needs a helping hand to secure a home. Somewhere they can feel secure and safe. Something I used to take for granted. By donating today, together we can make a big difference to those who really need it.

With love and thanks, David & Jacob xx

I'm so sorry to hear of Caroline's sad loss, David. You and your lad must be devastated. We worked together in Surrey for ten years. I hope that this donation helps the cause.
