    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Pogles Wood is a family run Forest School in West Dorset, my mother Philippa is the boss, and my name is Harry, her son; I manage the forest school site through the winter, taking care of tree care and gardening work, through to building maintenance and developing and expanding the site.

Pogles Wood is funded by various government grants, the small fees we charge for sessions, and mostly, our own savings. We are a registered charity and educational site.

In October thieves broke into the site in the early hours of the morning, and stole our compact tractor and mower attachment; they would have taken more, if it had not been for the vigilance of members of the local community, telephoning the police, eventually disturbing them before they had the chance.

Unfortunately they got away, and we have accepted the fact that our beloved tractor is probably gone for good. The tractor was nearly new, and bought with money left by my late grandmother, Philippa's mother, which makes it all the more upsetting.

Buying the tractor exhausted our budget, and rather naively we opted to make the site as secure as possible, rather than pay the huge premiums we were quoted to insure it. The thieves broke 3 locks, a gate, and moved a car that was parked blocking the tractor into a small shed.

Managing the 3 acre site is a full time job, and the tractor was an essential tool, the loss of which will make the day to day running of the school a lot more difficult and time consuming for mum.

Pogles Wood is a cornerstone of our small rural community, and brings a lot of joy to the children and adults that enjoy sessions here. My mother is in her 60s and works tirelessly running Pogles, it breaks my heart to see her upset as a result of this heartless, selfish crime.

We would be so grateful for a small donation, to help us put towards buying some equipment to replace the tractor, and to make the site more secure, preventing further theft.

    Thank you,

    Harry Toulson

We know how much children (and adults!) enjoy and learn at Pogles Wood. This mean and selfish theft must not be allowed to hinder the work that Philippa does at the Wood.
