    Story

The British film industry has never grown so quickly over such a short period of time as it is now. This not only creates more jobs and opportunities for young film makers, but also raises the bar for everyone involved to be more original, more tasteful. and ultimately, more independent. By creating this page i am hoping to raise money to bring together a group of young film makers to create a professional short film and show our independence and passion for our art.

Here is a few aspects of the project

    The story

This is a story about four step siblings who, after a broken past, must defeat each other in a poker night due to their careless fathers dying wish. This tale manages to maintain a serious tension of the stakes of this story, whilst also. comically reminding us of the ridiculousness of there situation. Its a well crafted minefield of gritted teeth and gags.

    The producer

I have worked in event management in the music industry since I was 15 and know the key skills of maintaining organisation when things don’t go to plan, and keeping a positive, and actively motivated team. Since working in the film industry I have worked on 3 short high budget films as an assistant to a producer who took home an award from Cannes last year. Other organisations I have worked for include the BFI academy, ITV, Rural Media.

    The writer

Dimitri Bakalis received first hand writing tuition from Brian Ward, the head tutor for script writing for the National Film and Television School, voted the top 5 film schools in the world. Brian worked closely with Dimitri and gave him some of the finest advice in script writing to be offered in education. Now he has created a wonderful short comical thriller script

    The Director

Grace Talbot spent many years training as a camera operative and from this she learnt to see the world through a frame. As a director she has tested herself with her own short arthouse films and has now begun a blooming career as a professional director. With a background in arts from fashion to printmaking and a grounding knowledge in camera technique, I believe Grace is the best choice for this film.

    The Crew

The rest of the crew where chosen either for their keen enthusiasm and professional skill set. I also took the time to think about personality traits of the team and did my best to built a crew of individuals who I think will work well together and have a positive social time when of set together. I have also made some choice due to the fact that some of the crew members can provide their own equipment which saves rental fees

    Equipment

As previously mentioned through a large network I have already acquired sound recording equipment, which on average would cost £200 a day with an operator, saving the budget a heavy £400 - £600. Equally I have a cinematographer who owns a Panasonic GH5 Cinema Camera, a highly praised piece of equipment used across the film industry.

    Volunteers

Close to all members of this crew are happy to work for free, including one of the cast members who is a National Youth Theatre trained actor. This was mostly down to the fact that people really enjoyed the script and wanted to work with it, but also because they are all just happy to be involved in a project regardless of income. If I was having to pay everyone on the team and cast the professional rates I would be spend somewhere in an area of £5000-£6000.

    Total already saved: £5600 EST

Why i have created this donation page is to ask you all for a final push to bring in a little more budget to bring this idea to life. Even an extra £10 is someone else’s Meals for the day and brings me a step closer to having a final, fully fledged film. I have done absolutely all I can to reduce my expenses and have carefully crafted the cheapest, most efficient way to move into the production process. This isn’t just an uncalculated dive for money that potentially is not needed. This is a professionally planned and devised scheme to bring together a team of driven individuals to create something we can all proudly call our own.
