I've raised £2500 to restore our beautiful Pontefract Park Lake to its former glory for the whole community to enjoy

Pontefract Park Lake used to be a place the whole community could enjoy. As of late it has suffered neglect, vandalism and poaching and if we don't act now, we fear we're going to lose the focal point of our beautiful park.
We want to bring angling back to the lake. Through the 70s 80s and 90s it was thought of as one of the greatest fishing venues around. Fishing is a dying past time making way to TV, games consoles and the Internet. Not only that, for many it is a form of therapy, providing a relaxing and stress free escape from modern life. We have formed a club committee, made a Facebook page with over to 700 current members, made contact with the Angling Trust and Environment agency all of which wish to back this project. We want to give coaching and taster days for beginners, run matches for competitive anglers and raise funds for local charities or for the pleasure anglers just a well run local community venue right in your doorstep.
Its not just about fishing, we want to improve the aesthetics of the lake for the whole community to enjoy. We want to make a new feeding area so the public can enjoy the birds that frequent the lake, plant reed and lilly beds to provide sanctuary for new and existing wildlife and totally transform the look of the lakeside.
But we need your help. We are also going to work closely with other community groups.
We are all volunteers from that have many wonderful memories of how the lake once was and we want the next generation to be able to enjoy the lake as much as we did and bring something back to our much loved Pontefract Park. This is 100% non profit, every penny we raise will be going straight into this project, we have already started the clean up process but there is a lot of work to be done and we are all doing this in our spare time, just wishing to give something back to the community and any penny we can get will get us one step closer to achieving our goal.
On behalf of all of us at the club, thank you
