We are all indebted to the brave soldiers who fight for our freedom & peace everyday, risking their lives. We stand united with their families in our bereavement.

We remember the sacrifice of one such commandant, Squadron Leader Divesh Pankaj. The brave young officer laid down his life in the recent Sukhoi-30 crash in Tezpur, Assam. The unfortunate incident had happened when his Sukhoi-30 took off on 23rd May, 2017 from IAF Tezpur air base at around 10.30 am on a routine training mission. Sq. Ld. Pankaj was manoeuvring the aircraft but it soon lost radar and radio contact with the controlling station around 11.10 am near Arunachal Pradesh's Doulasang area, adjoining China. No sign of the missing airplane or the officers in charge had appeared in the vicinity. After three days however, the wreckage was found on 26th May following a massive search and rescue operation. The fighter jet had crashed approximately 60 km away from the IAF Tezpur airbase. Both the young pilots, Squadron Leader Divesh Pankaj and Flight Lieutenant Achudev had died in this crash.

Sq. Ld. Pankaj’s 5 year old daughter has lost her father, her role model.. us Ramjasians have lost their buddy & the Nation has lost a Hero! Divesh is flying high with God now.. RIP brother. We will take care of your daughter together.. I find peace in knowing that you left doing what you loved.. and taking care of us all..
