Story
The Poppy Memorial Trail are asking for donations towards their 2018 events and in turn support the charities that work tirelessly to help ex-servicemen and their families. Over the last three years we have, as a voluntary group, looked to recognise and commemorate the centenary of WW1, those who fought and died locally and those who were lost over the course of the Great War.
The 2018 series of events will be the final act in this three year cycle as the centenary draws to a close. All of those working on the week's worth of events are volunteers and the money raised is entirely to realise the incredible creative element of the project which had such an impact in 2015.
The 2018 Poppy Memorial Trail - WWI “100 years Commemorative Remembrance”: St. Nicholas’ Church, High Bradfield, Sheffield.
After the considerable success of the 2015 and 2016 poppy trail events where over 100,000 people attended and over £15,000 was raised for charity , the 2018 Poppy Memorial Trail is this year looking to continue the effort with the following timetable of events:
Friday 2nd November 2018 – Opening Ceremony full Poppy art installation projection
Friday 9th November 2018 – Festival of Remembrance - music programme – no projection
Friday 16th November 2018 – Closing ceremony with full Poppy art installation projection
All monies raise at these events will go to the three nominated worthy charities.
